Excerpt from Blairview: Listen to Your Heart

Twenty-two year old Morgan Blair was still shaking his head in disbelief as he approached the Paris hotel in which he was staying. He had only gone to the restaurant on his younger brother's recommendation, and after ten minutes of watching the scantily clad waitresses and dancers, began to wonder how Patrick, at 18, had gained admittance to the place. No doubt Patrick would only grin and claim that money could buy a person's way in anywhere.

A block away from the hotel, Morgan noticed the two young women standing on a corner, drawing attention to themselves. One was brown haired, the other blonde, and both were dressed in skimpy outfits that left very little to the imagination. Tight, low cut blouses, very short skirts, high heel shoes that were very nearly stilts, they were the quintessential street walkers of most people's imagination. Moving closer, he heard the dark haired one say something to a man who had stopped to ogle them. "Don't look if you're not interested in making it worth our while, ami," she said in a heavy French accent that couldn't possibly be real.

"How much?" the man asked, leering at the girls.

"One hundred," she told him.

He looked at the blonde again. "For both of you?"

The blonde quickly hid her surprise, but Morgan noticed it. They had a great deal of make up on, making it difficult to tell how old they were. From a distance, Morgan would have said they were anywhere between eighteen and thirty. But nearer, he placed that estimate near the lower end of that range.

The brunette smiled sexily. "That could be worked out," she told the prospective customer. "But it will cost more."

There it was again. The flicker of fear in those blue eyes. "Michelle," the blonde said, trying to get her friend's attention.

Michelle shook her off, reaching out to stroke the man's cheek. "I could make you forget about her," she told the man.

"No, I don't think so," he insisted, leering again at the expanse of cleavage revealed by the blonde's low cut top. "But the price is too high. Some other time, perhaps, unless you would care to come with me alone?" he asked of the blonde.

She swallowed nervously, then jumped as Morgan spoke. "She already has a customer," he told the man. The girls turned toward him, the brunette adopting a sexy pose, gratitude flashing in the blonde's eyes. Morgan took the blonde's arm. "Forgive me for being late for our appointment, but I was unavoidably detained. I thought we could go to my hotel room for a few drinks?"
