Sep 08, Christina rated it liked it Shelves: animals , juvenile , books-for-e. Another book for my niece.
Nice full color photos, interesting facts, and definitions of some words with a review at the end, as well as phonetic spelling of unique words.
I thought the jokes at the top of a page would appeal to kids, even if I still don't get one of them: "what's black and white and red all over?
A panda convention. Still, could they not have come up with a better Another book for my niece. Still, could they not have come up with a better punchline?

This is a great book for kids who want to learn about panda bears. It does a great job telling us all the important information, such as habitat, diet, characteristics, etc I would place it at a 2nd grade reading level.
It talks about panda bears in depth but not on a level that is too academic. Apr 20, Jenese Wilson rated it it was amazing.

It was also really informative, and talked about the eating habits of pandas, and how they're more like a raccoon or cat, rather than a bear. I also didn't realize how big they were; the size of a black bear.
Inalso didn't know how shy they were, or that they had fur on the bottom of their feet to protect them from the cold. It was really sad to learn there only about 1, pandas left in the wild, found almost I absolutely loved this book!
It was really sad to learn there only about 1, pandas left in the wild, found almost exclusively in China. It really makes me want to go to China.
I also loved that they mentioned red pandas, which are absolutely my favourite animal! They had great pictures and it was so informative and engaging.

And when the tiger begins to chase Bao Bao and he runs, that can be used to teach that sometimes when in danger the best thing to do is to just run away.
Lesson: A good lesson I would I enjoyed this book, mostly for the lessons it teaches about listening to parents and dealing with danger.
That lesson could be used to help teach listening to the children as they have to listen to the instructions of the teacher.
Then you could even include a direction that says "Panda says run away from danger! Sep 13, Melanie rated it really liked it Shelves: children-s-literature , picture-book , pandas , asian-continent , grandparents , storytelling , tigers , mothers-sons , parent-child.
A grandfather tells his grandson a story about a baby panda that loves to sleep in his favorite tree even though it really is too small for him.
One day when his mother travels far to find bamboo for dinner the little panda is in his too-small tree. While his mother is gone a tiger sneaks up on the panda baby and climbs his too-small tree.
The small panda climbs higher and higher but he eventually falls out of the tree, causing the tiger to go flying from the springing branch.
A sweet story. Children might find it hard to understand that the tiger went flying because the weight of the panda was holding down the branch he was on.
When the panda fell the branch bounced back into place sending the tiger flying through the air. Shelves: childrens-picture-books.
I really loved The Quiet Book and was so excited when I found that the illustrator, Liwska, had also authored and illustrated this book.
While "Little Panda" doesn't shine quite as much as "The Quiet Book" it is still full of absolutely adorable artwork I love the tiger!
Jun 01, Kristen rated it really liked it Shelves: childrens , picture-books. This could've been an ordinary story of the lessons a little panda learned from his mama, but the dialogue and art give it such warmth and gentle character that it comes off as snug and dear, not sticky-sweet.
The book-ending parts of the grandfather and the little panda are charming, too, and nicely frame the story. Sep 01, Whirl Girl rated it really liked it Shelves: china , top-five.
The animal books are always a big hit with The Whirl Girl, and we had to have a panda book for China. I liked how this showed the natural life of a panda, but still had enough of a story for The Whirl Girl to enjoy it.
Pretty much any story of a mama and her child are popular in our house and this one had just the right amount of suspense without being scary.
Oct 14, Rachael rated it really liked it Shelves: kids-books. So cute. So very very cute. I think the story was also fairly well done, if not exactly enthralling, but I was distracted by the fact that the little panda was so adorable.
I took a poll the other night at work, and no one was able to come up with anything cuter than a baby panda. Well, one person said a baby anteater, but she was clearly wrong.
Taht's right, Kristi. You were wrong. Mar 05, Beth rated it really liked it Shelves: picture-books. Really cute nice story for early elementary school kids about a little panda who sees a tiger fly.
I love the interaction between the grandpa and little panda at the beginning. The book is a little small for a large group to see the pictures. Jun 07, Tara rated it really liked it Shelves: borrowed , children , toronto-library.
Beautiful pictures. The story is fun and has the feel of a classic tale. The pictures are not bright and so this is better for an older child rather than my 6 month old.
This book is definitely worthy of purchase. Sep 12, Rachel rated it really liked it Shelves: for-mirm-and-chad.
Feb 02, Rochelle rated it did not like it Shelves: edrd I felt like the book jumped a lot and really had no plot.
The story seemed lazy and should have been longer. I will say the pictures are beautiful though!
